Heart Talk: Poetic Wisdom for a Better Life
Quotes from the Book
Meditation is one of Mother Nature’s most powerful medicines and has no apparent side effects. It’s been scientifically proven that meditation helps calm the mind and de-stress the body. It also helps regulate blood pressure, lowers depression, induces the ‘relaxation response’, rewires the circuitry of your brain, enhances positive emotions, increases overall life satisfaction . . . And that’s just for starters!
There can't be joy until there is gratitude.
It's a universal law that what you put out you get back in return. If you want to have more, you have first become and give more.
Money isn't the only way to give back. You can make a difference by giving your time, a helping hand, or a smile, or simply by lending an ear and listening to someone in need.
Everything outside us is a reflection of our internal state.
Choose only love. In every moment. In every circumstance.
Just because you choose to fill yourself up and address your own needs doesn’t mean you love your children any less. It actually means quite the opposite. It means you love your children so much that you want to be fully present and bursting with love when you’re with them and give them the absolute best version of yourself. Because that is what they deserve. Here’s
To master your Mean Girl you must choose love over fear in every moment. In times of uncertainty ask yourself, “What would love do right now?” You can always light up the darkness of fear with love.
Every decision comes down to a choice—to do things either from love or from fear. To master your Mean Girl you must choose love over fear in every moment. In times of uncertainty ask yourself, “What would love do right now?” You can always light up the darkness of fear with love.
to inspire someone, you have to genuinely walk your talk and live your message.
Remember, all you can do is be the light. Be that beautiful, shiny beacon ahead for your clients, team, or loved ones.
Remember this when it comes to your loved ones—when they are ready, the Universe will send them what they need.
Here’s a good way to think of it: Imagine a mug of water sitting on a saucer. The mug is overflowing with water and it’s pouring out onto the saucer. Because the mug is overflowing, you have extra water in the saucer to give freely to others. But if your mug were only half full, you wouldn’t have much to share around. Let’s make sure we are overflowing with love first so that we can give from that overflowing place of love.
If you don’t take time out for yourself, you’re doing yourself and everyone around you a disservice.
Tom also says that one twenty-minute meditation is the equivalent of four hours’ sleep. So on average, if you’re meditating twice a day for twenty minutes you are in fact getting an extra eight hours’ sleep each day.
I believe it all comes down to worthiness! In fact, just the other day, my friend Nicole was telling me about her new job, which she loves, and she said to me, “I am so lucky to have this amazing job.” I stopped her, looked her in the eyes, and said, “No! You’re not lucky; you’re so worthy of that job. Own your worth, sister!” After the initial shock of my statement wore off, she took a breath and said, “You’re right, I am worthy of this. I deserve this job!” As soon as she said that her shoulders dropped an inch, she sat up taller, her eyes lit up, and her face became softer. I could see she really felt it in her heart.
When I first got together with my hubby, I remember catching myself saying, “I am so lucky. I feel so blessed.” He stopped me immediately and said, “No you’re not, honey, you’re so worthy. You deserve all this happiness and love you’re experiencing right now, but you gotta believe it.” My Mean Girl’s immediate reaction was to tell me, “No, you don’t.” Straight to the jugular. But thankfully I knew enough about her tricky little games to stop her in her tracks. I do deserve happiness and love! I truly do. And so do you, beautiful.
We are here to discover what we are truly passionate about and let that become the life-force that pumps through our veins. Now that I know all this, I don’t think I could ever do something I wasn’t passionate about. Your work is not who are you, but it is something you spend a lot of time doing—so why not do something that lights you up and puts profits in your pockets at the same time? I’ve had two careers in my lifetime, both driven by passion. When I first started as a performer I loved what I did so much that it never felt like work. Similarly to now: speaking, writing, and creating products to inspire women to be wildly wealthy, fabulously healthy, and bursting with love doesn’t feel like work to me. And I feel deeply grateful I have had these two careers that made my heart sing.
Just keep following your heart and trust that you are Universally supported and the rest will unfold in perfect time.
Now it’s time to hold yourself accountable.
Now I’m incredibly conscious of the importance of a fair energy exchange to ensure that I am truly valuing and honoring the energy that I’m receiving—whether that’s a workshop, a beautiful meal, a massage, or anything. Another example of this was when I first started dating my husband. He wanted to read my e-book 12 Steps to Wellness, so I said I would e-mail it to him. He replied, “No, honey, I want to pay for it—I value you and your work, and I want to make that energetic exchange.” He also mentioned that if he didn’t pay for it he wouldn’t value it as much. There has to be an energetic exchange in order to truly value something.
Just because something is common, that doesn’t mean you have to follow it. Blaze your own trail and be a leader, not a follower. Every time you deny your truth and don’t act in alignment there is always a consequence.
First, when you find a cause you are truly passionate about, giving will not seem like an effort or a burden. In fact, you’ll gladly open your heart (and wallet) as wide as you possibly can. And second, this is yet another example of why it’s so important to stay true to you and your heart’s desires. There are so many worthy causes in the world, and I truly believe that everyone can find the one that is right for them.
When you are coming from love, the energy is different—not only will you feel it, but so will the person on the receiving end.
Wherever you are on your journey, know that the Universe will support you in every step you take. Perhaps in ways you can’t quite see yet, but trust that it’s always on your side. You see, you are one of its divine children and it wants to see you shine.
1. Use affirmations. Stand in front of the mirror. Stare into those gorgeous eyes of yours and repeat any of these affirmations: I love and accept myself unconditionally and wholeheartedly, right now! I am perfect exactly the way I am. Joy is my barometer for deep self-love. I inhale love; I exhale fear. I do all things with love. I choose love over fear in every moment. My thoughts create my reality, so I choose only loving thoughts that are going to deeply support and nourish me. I open my heart to love.
In order for a plant to grow you must water it, and I believe in order for our human consciousness to evolve we must water ourselves with knowledge.
Every time we people please, we are saying yes to someone else and no to our truth. In that moment we are dimming our light.
