Keep Moving: Notes on Loss, Creativity, and Change
Quotes from the Book
The best advice I can give to anyone going through a rough patch is to never be afraid to ask for help.

Go ahead and believe that no one shines brighter than you. Become amazing, and be happy.
Stay strong, be brave, love hard and true, and you will have nothing to lose.
Watch a movie that makes you laugh or listen to a song that makes you cry. Embrace your emotions and be proud of what you feel.
Make a wish with all your heart and chase every dream you have. Only you can reach your goals. No one else can achieve them for you
Love yourself and treat yourself as you would treat your very best friend. You deserve the same love you give to others.
Life is precious and it's what you do with it that keeps you alive on the inside. It's not enough just to live and take that gift for granted. Each one of us has fears, but the more we work to overome them, the more we are able to enjoy our lives.
Change your thoughts, change your life. —LAO TZU When I was fighting depression, I remember hearing this expression and not understanding it at first. When I decided to implement it in my life, a whole new world opened up for me. Change the negative, self-loathing thoughts to positive, self-affirming ones. When you’re positive about yourself and everything around you, you begin to see the world in a different light. Your life today is what you make of it. Goal: Be mindful of the tone of your thoughts.
Life can be so difficult at times, but fighting through the pain is so worth it. It's better to feel every kind of emotion than not feel at all.
Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power. - Jim Morrison

Be who you are and don't allow anyone to affect the confidence you have in your individuality.
When your feet start to hurt, place yourself in someone else’s shoes.
Every life has a purpose. Share your story and you may help someone find their own.
Sometimes thoughts, fears, or other people get too loud and we can’t hear ourselves.
Change the negative, self-loathing thoughts to positive, self-affirming ones. When you’re positive about yourself and everything around you, you begin to see the world in a different light. Your life today is what you make of it.
Go where you are wanted and stray from where you aren’t. Surround yourself with positive people and environments.

Stand up for those who can’t yet. Give them support and strength.
Make sure you aren’t living out your fears, but releasing them. Try to remember that there is a purpose for every hardship or opportunity in your life.
The next time you are worrying about something, try to remember that you aren’t always in control. Instead, do practical things like make a budget or create a schedule. Be proactive and let go of the stress. After all, it won’t change a thing.
Use the voice that you were given. Shout what you believe in from the top of your lungs. Never let anyone quiet you.

Learn from the past and share your experiences with others.
Don’t make assumptions. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life. —MIGUEL ANGEL RUIZ It’s better to take the time to ask questions and to find the words to say what you really feel. Often we leave so much room for interpretation either because we are rushing or because we are afraid to speak the whole truth, but this is where miscommunications start. So even if you aren’t sure about what someone means or how they feel, just ask them. Goal: When was the last time you assumed something and were wrong? Make a point to know the truth and not assume it.
