I Really Didn't Think This Through: Tales from My So-Called Adult Life
Quotes from the Book
In a world where every single person -good or bad- has a voice, I hope you pick up your pen and use yours.
You are also capable of surviving pretty much anything. Think back to all the times you swore you couldn’t get through something. If you’re here, then you did get through it.
When you feel hurt, let yourself feel hurt. Let yourself process and recover.
If something is too harsh to say to someone else, maybe make sure you aren’t constantly saying that thing to yourself.
The Internet was actually never a nice place. With anonymity, soapbox, lost empathy, fire party harassment campaigns exist mainstream, doing damage to the marginalized, saying it was just a joke. It isn’t conducive to sensitive nature of most artists.

About Sarah Andersen
About the book
Adjusting to life as a world-famous cartoonist isn't easy. Terrifying deadlines, piles of junk-food wrappers under a glowing computer screen, and an ever-growing horde of pets . . . umm, never mind—it's pretty much the same.
With characteristic wit and charm, Sarah Andersen's third collection of comics and illustrated personal essays offers a survival guide for frantic modern life: from the importance of avoiding morning people, to Internet troll defense 101, to the not-so-life-changing futility of tidying up. But when all else fails and the world around you is collapsing, make a hot chocolate, count the days until Halloween, and snuggle up next to your furry beacon of hope.
Sarah Andersen is a young artist based in Brooklyn. She is currently working on reducing the number of times she hits snooze in the morning. Progress is slow.
