“Mistakes can be fixed. Bad decisions can be undone. Model houses can be rebuilt. And perfection is only a word that makes you feel bad about yourself.”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“Make wise choices with your life because the rest of the world certainly isn't going to do it for you.”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“The guy you're really supposed to be with can be standing right in front of you and you don't even notice because you're too distracted by the one you think you're supposed to be with.”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“It's like I'm caught between two versions of myself. The person I used to be and the person i'm too scared to become. I feel like I'm looking in a mirror and my reflection doesn't match. I just want to be myself again. Only I'm not sure who that is anymore. Is it the girl in the mirror, the one I've struggled to be my entire life? Or is it this stranger living inside me who wants nothing to do with her? How do you decide between them? How do you know which one is really you?”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“Perceptions are key. Your representation to society dictates what people think of you.”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“It happens all the time. Sometimes the most obvious choices are the hardest to see.”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“I turn and look at Hunter, whose face is one giant question mark. "I've made a mistake," I try to explain to him. "I said yes to you for the wrong reasons and I'm sorry. I really am.”
― Jessica Brody, quote from My Life Undecided
“Nathan smoothly touched the bottom with a palm. His shirt and shoes were off. When his head and chest rose out of the water, I was in awe of the muscles that were defined in his body. Unlike Silas whose bulk of muscle was smooth, Nathan was a precision machine. The ripples of muscles along his abdomen fit together like a living puzzle. A smile broke on his lips as those penetrating blue eyes fixed on my face. “Did you find out?”
― C.L. Stone, quote from Introductions
“The beautiful thing about books was that anyone could open them.”
― Victoria Schwab, quote from This Savage Song
“Not many women got to live out the daydream of women—to have a room, even a section of a room, that only gets messed up when she messes it up herself.”
― Maxine Hong Kingston, quote from The Woman Warrior
“Between the covers a book can be a sin. I have spent many hours in search of a waking dream. And once having learned to read, I couldn’t imagine my life otherwise. The indifferent children around me didn’t share my enthusiasm for the written word. Some might sit for a good story while told, but if a book had no pictures they showed scant interest.”
― Keith Donohue, quote from The Stolen Child
“Your life is just a bird’s flight through a lit room. You pass from infinite darkness into endless night, with only a short time in between.”
― Conn Iggulden, quote from Bones of the Hills
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
