“If I shot an arrow and thought about an ass, would it surprise you if it hit Erik?”
“Nerd herd, focus. You're here to help the fledglings. Dour One and Dour Two aren't important," said Aphrodite.
"Dr. Seuss reference. I like it," Stark said, giving me a check-me-out-I've-always-read-books hottie grin.
Aphrodite frowned at him.
"I said focus, not flirt.”
“If I shot an arrow and thought about an ass, would it surprise you that I hit Erik?' Stark asked me in a pleasant, nonchalant voice.”
“Hey, which one of them is supposed to be your boyfriend?” Stark
asked me. Even in the terrible shape he was in, he caught my glance
with his. His voice was scratchy, and he sounded scarily weak, but
his eyes sparkled with humor.
I am!” Heath and Erik said together.”
“Comfort is for the lazy and the ugly."
Aphrodite”
“You and I are bound. We will be each other’s salvation, or each other’s doom.”
“We are all affected by our pasts, but it is within our power not to let what we have done to dictate what we will do.”
“How will it ever be bearable, Priestess?” His voice was rough. He sounded completely broken.
“You’ll see her again. She’s with Nyx now. She’ll either wait for you in the Goddess’s meadow, or she’ll be reborn and her soul will find you again during this lifetime. You can bear it because you know that spirit never really ends-we never really end.”
“I'm sick of you cheating on me with everyone who has a dick”
“Really? Well, you'd definitely be interested in the fact that I just read To Kill A Mockingbird."
I smiled and elbowed him. "Everyone's read that."
I've read it five times."
Nu-uh."
Yep. I can even quote parts of it."
That's bullpoopie."
And then Stark, my big, bad, macho Warrior raised his voice, put on a little girl's Southern drawl, and said, "'Uncle Jack? What's a whore-lady?'"
I do not think that's the most important quote from that book," I said, but laughed anyway.
Okay, how about: 'Ain't no snot-nosed slut of a schoolteacher ever born c'n make me do nothin.!' That one's really my favorite."
You got a twisted mind, James Stark.”
“There is a deep power in words that speak the truth”
“I've loved you for as long as I can remember, and I'm going to love you for the rest of my life.”
“I’ll even let Heath help out,” he really
sounded like a pompous butt.
You’ll let me help out?” Heath snapped. “Your mom will let me
help out.”
“When you make mistakes, whether they are from this life or another, learn from them- then they become opportunities”
“But you don't belong here! You're dead!" I sobbed against his chest.
"Zo, babe, this is the Otherworld. It's not me who doesn't belong here-it's you.”
“If I shot an arrow and thought about an ass, would it surprise you that I hit Erik?" Stark asked me in a pleasant, nonchalant voice.
"Wouldn't surprise me," Heath said.”
“They're Twin-like," Shaunee said.
"Hilarious," Erin agreed.
"Shut up!" Aphrodite and Stevie Rae said together, which made the Twins convulse into laughter.”
“His eyes met mine and the rest of the room faded away. ―I‘m always going to keep your heart safe, even if mine has to stop beating for that to happen,‖ he told me softly.”
“A double-edged sword
One side destroys
One releases
I am your Gordian knot
Will you release or destroy me?
Follow truth and you shall:
Find me on water
Purify me through fire
Trapped by earth nevermore
Air will whisper to you
What spirit already knows:
That even shattered
anything is possible
If you believe
Then we shall both be free.”
“We are all affected by our pasts, but it is within our power not to let what we have done to dictate what we will do.”
“There's power in the truth, just like there's power in making the right choice”
“No problem, I'll get a penguin to show us”
“No matter how hard I try to fight against it, my soul recognizes him,”
“We are all affected by our pasts, but it is within our power not to let what we have done dictate what we will do.”
“Life is about messing up. And I'm startin' to think it wouldn't be as exciting if we were perfect.”
“Vampyre High Council. Wasn’t clueing them in to that a little more important”
“I warn you," the boy went on. "I am a magician of great power. I control many terrifying entities. This being you see before you" - here I rolled my shoulders back and puffed my chest up menacingly - "is but the meanest and least impressive of my slaves." (Here I slumped my shoulders and stuck my stomach out.)”
“He’s uncertain what’s going to happen next. But he is certain that that’s actually the point. If this is all a story, then that’s what the story means. If it isn’t a story, then the exact same is true. But as his friends begin the final steps, pressing buttons, answering questions on a screen, he thinks that what is forever certain is that there’s always more. Always.”
“Warum tötest du mich nicht?" fragte der Bücherjäger. "Du solltest eigentlich wissen", antwortete Homunkoloss, "daß es immer einen geben muß, der überlebt, damit er die Geschichte erzählen kann. Denn sonst gäbe es bald keine Geschichten mehr, um die Bücher zu füllen.”
“...how odd to think of one's life not as chapters in a book but as complete volumes, separate and distinct.
”
“Love sucks. Sometimes it feels good. Sometimes it's just another way to bleed.”
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
