“Sometimes the things we dream about are merely the heart's way of protecting us from what we really want, and what we're really afraid to lose.”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“Robert, I’m sorry that you feel so strange, but I’m not sorry that you’re feeling it because of me,” I whispered, my heart feeling a familiar twinge as I continued, “but even if you hadn’t felt it, it would not change the way I feel about you.”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“Before I succumbed to the sweet lull of his voice, I made one last request. "Stay".
I was asleep before he could answer, but in my dreams I heard him reply forever.”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“When I'm not around you that is when I feel breathless. I liken it to being a fish, and you are my water. When I'm not around you, I feel as though I cannot breathe. And you have to understand the irony in that because I've never in my entire existence ever needed to.”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“With you, love is a trophy that comes in different sizes, and you're always trying to get the biggest one out there. Mine wasn't the biggest, or the shiniest. For me, love is a ribbon. It doesn't matter what color or size it is, as long as I can pin it to my heart”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“It's my heart. It is the same as yours.
I shook my head. No it isn't. Your heart has beaten for fifteen hundred years--and will continue to beat for at least another fifteen hundred--while mine will be lucky to beat for as long as Ellie's has.
He kissed my hair and then pressed his cheek against my head. I will see to it that it beats for as long as possible.”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“The full impact of silver--liquid fire, hot and flowing hit me hard in that place in your belly that doesn't exist for food, but for something else entirely. It exists solely to possess the feeling that it barely held in check right then. I don't know what it was. I don't think it has a name.”
― S.L. Naeole, quote from Falling From Grace
“Een vrouw in Vikingkleren zwaaide naar hem, gebaarde dat hij naar de opening in de piramide moest rennen.
'Rennen, Jake!'
Het was Kady!
Hij herkende haar bijna niet. Haar kleren waren gescheurd en ze had bloed op haar gezicht, maar ze stond fier overeind. Ze hief het zwaard in haar hand op en weest naar de top van de piramide.”
― James Rollins, quote from Jake Ransom and the Skull King's Shadow
“Oh no,” I breathed. “Oh no, oh no, oh no.” My hands flapped as I bounced from foot to foot. I imagined something exploding from my ribcage. Something with tentacles and acid spit. “Babe, I should not have drank that water.” Venomous moved to stand just out of reach on the other side of the haze. Tremors wracked his frame, and he looked desperately like he wanted to snatch me up then run. “Fix her,” Fiercely snapped as he loomed over the a’Rä. “Fix her now.” I clutched my chest. “I feel it moving.” Venomous paled. “Oh, no, that’s a necklace, but it’s only a matter of time.”
― Penelope Fletcher, quote from Venomous
“إن ما يقود الرجل إلى "عالم الشياطين" هو جسد المرأة ص 105”
― Yasunari Kawabata, quote from House of the Sleeping Beauties and Other Stories
“Segui il tuo corso et lascia dir les genti
(Follow your road and let the people say)”
― Dante Alighieri, quote from Dante's Divine Comedy Set: Three-Volume Set
“Officially, he was no longer a victim, he was a criminal”
― Edward Humes, quote from No Matter How Loud I Shout: A Year in the Life of Juvenile Court
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
