Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.

8But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass through, for the LORD your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into your hand, as it is this day. 31“And the LORD said to me, ‘See, I have begun to give Sihon and his land over to you. Begin to possess it, that you may inherit his land.

You do not delight in burnt offering.   17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,    A broken and a contrite heart—    These, O God, You will not despise.

The LORD will bless His people with peace.

8Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die.a 9Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.

8Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.

8I will hear what God the LORD will speak, For He will speak peace To His people and to His saints; But let them not turn back to folly.

Because of laziness the building decays,    And through idleness of hands the house leaks.

When He had called all the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear Me, everyone, and understand: 15 There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; but the things which come out of him, those are the things that defile a man. 16 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!”* 17 When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples asked Him concerning the parable. 18 So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, 19 because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?”* 20 And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.

Proverbs 6:20-26   20 My son, keep your father’s command,     And do not forsake the law of your mother.   21 Bind them continually upon your heart;     Tie them around your neck.   22 When you roam, they* will lead you;     When you sleep, they will keep you;     And when you awake, they will speak with you.   23 For the commandment is a lamp,     And the law a light;     Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,   24 To keep you from the evil woman,     From the flattering tongue of a seductress.   25 Do not lust after her beauty in your heart,     Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.   26 For by means of a harlot     A man is reduced to a crust of bread;     And an adulteress* will prey upon his precious life.

they hated knowledge     And did not choose the fear of the LORD,   30 They would have none of my [Wisdom’s] counsel     And despised my every rebuke.   31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,     And be filled to the full with their own fancies.   32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them,     And the complacency of fools will destroy them;   33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,     And will be secure, without fear of evil.

are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Till you return to the ground,

Though the fig tree may not blossom,     Nor fruit be on the vines;     Though the labor of the olive may fail,     And the fields yield no food;     Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,     And there be no herd in the stalls—   18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,     I will joy in the God of my salvation.

8 There were many lamps in the upper room where they* were gathered together. 9 And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. 10 But Paul went down, fell on him, and embracing him said, “Do not trouble yourselves, for his life is in him.” 11 Now when he had come up, had broken bread and eaten, and talked a long while, even till daybreak, he departed. 12 And they brought the young man in alive,

God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”a

Create in me a clean heart, O God,     And renew a steadfast spirit within me.   11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,     And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.   12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,     And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it.

who follows righteousness and mercy     Finds life, righteousness, and honor.

8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;     I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever. 9 I will praise You forever,     Because You have done it;     And in the presence of Your saints     I will wait on Your name, for it is good.

6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
