POPism: The Warhol Sixties

The girls in California were probably prettier in a standard sense than the New York girls--blonder and in better health, I guess; but I still preferred the way the girls in New York looked--stranger and more neurotic (a girl always looked more beautiful and fragile when she was about to have a nervous breakdown).

I learned that you actually have more power when you shut up.

I could never finally figure out if more things happened in the sixties because there was more awake time for them to happen in (since so many people were on amphetamine), or if people started taking amphetamine because there were so many things to do that they needed to have more awake time to do them in. I only slept two or three hours a night from '65 through '67, but I used to see people who hadn't slept for days at a time and they'd say things like "I'm hitting my ninth day and it's glorious!

I´ve often wondered why people who could look at incredible new art and laugh at it bothered to involve themselves with art at all. And yet you'd run into so many of these types around the art scene.

If you value your privacy, don't ever get shot, because your private life turns into an open house very quickly.
