“Come here my fattin’ up girlfriend and give me some kissin’.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“Please don't hurt me. When you're tired of me, just let me know.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“I’m a mean, cruel person who doesn’t deserve love.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“You know how important trust is to me, yet you've done nothing but deceive me.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“You could kiss me, we’ve hardly kissed since you’ve come back. You didn’t meet another woman while you were gone did you?” I traced around the outline of his lips with my index finger.
“There are other women out there?” The look on his face was one of genuine surprise.
“Oh, you’re good.” I kissed his cheek. “Did you come up with that all by yourself, or is it a line from one of your old movies?”
“All by myself.” Seth put his arms around my waist and drew me close.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“MAke sure she can handle a gun, please."
I whacked him on the arm.
"Hmm, did a butterfly just land on me?”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“He insisted we sleep together, I insisted we didn’t.
I won.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“I can take care of myself, thank you very much.” Cole pulled a tomato half out of the salad and stuffed it into his mouth.

“That’s right. I heard you and Ron were good friends,” Booker said innocently, the first clue a joke was coming. Booker was many things, but innocent wasn’t one of them.

Cole studied him for a moment. “Okay, I know I’m going to hate myself for asking, but who is Ron?” Cole leaned against the counter and folded his arms across his chest, looking every bit the 6'3 3/4" that he was.

“You know, Ron, as in Ronald McDonald.”

I groaned. That was bad.

“I can cook,” Cole said indecisively.

“Doc, you’re the only person I know that can burn water!”

“I have never burn–okay, once. Are you ever going to forgive me?”

“You ruined my favorite pan!”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

“He didn’t say anything until we approached my trailer. “Truth be told, I was hoping for
a goodnight kiss, you know, after the park and everything.”
I ignored him and increased my pace again. After a few more steps, I had a small
brainstorm and sallied around with a smug expression. “Sorry, it’s not cold enough to kiss
you.”
He looked puzzled. “Okay, you’ve lost me. What does the cold have to do with you
kissing me?”
“Simple, the river Phlegethon will have to freeze over before I’ll ever kiss you again.”
Dr. Bore would be proud of my mythology reference. Seth just threw his head back and
laughed. “I’m glad you think that’s funny.”
He gently, but firmly, took my chin in his hand. “Methinks the lady doth protest too
much.”
He did not just misquote Shakespeare to me!
“I watched you taste my kiss back at the park, Maggie. You enjoyed it as much as I
did. You know it and I know it.” His voice rumbled soft, low, and yummy. I yanked my
head free and walked up the small path to my porch.
“Sooner or later, Maggie, our lips will meet again. Personally, I’m voting for sooner.”
I wheeled around, almost losing my balance. “Why do guys like you think every girl
wants to make out with them? I don’t get it.”
The playful grin had vanished from his face. “I didn’t ask you to make out, Maggie.
Goodnight.” A twist of guilt clutched at my belly as he walked away.”
― Sherry Gammon, quote from Unlovable

Popular quotes

“This beautiful thought, of 'dying close by that which one loves', expressed in a hundred different ways, was followed by a sonnet in which it was found that the soul, separated, after atrocious torments, from the frail body in which it dwelt for twenty-three years, and impelled by that instinct for happiness natural to all that has once existed, would not reascend to heaven to mingle with angelic choirs as soon as it was set free, and in the event of the awful judgment according it forgiveness for its sins, but, happier after death than it had been in life, it would go a few steps from the prison where it had lamented for so long, to be reunited with all that it had loved in the world. And thus, the sonnet's last line went. I shall have found my paradise on earth.”
― Stendhal, quote from The Charterhouse of Parma

“Archie believed in always doing the smart thing. Not the thing you ached to do, not the impulsive act, but the thing that would pay off later.”
― Robert Cormier, quote from The Chocolate War

“She should have know that villains often come with pretty faces.”
― Anna Godbersen, quote from The Luxe

“I went first. The card I drew was "Watergate." "Oh, come on," I said. "This is ridiculous."

"Don't whine," said Carter, his grin annoyingly smug. "We all take a random chance here."

They started the timer. I drew some remedial waves that immediately got a "Water!" from Cody. That was promising. Then, I drew what I hoped looked like a wall with a door in it. Apparently, I did too good a job.

"Wall," said Hugh.

"Door," said Cody.

I added some vertical lines to the door to emphasize the gate aspect. After a moment's thought, I drew a plus sign between the water and wall to show their connection.

"Aqueduct," said Cody.

"A bridge over troubled water," guessed Hugh.

"Oh my God," I groaned.

Unsurprisingly, my time ran out before my teammates could figure it out, though not before they guessed "Hoover Dam" and "Hans Brinker." With a groan, I flounced onto the couch. The other team then got a shot at it.

"Watergate," said Carter right away.

Hugh turned on me, face incredulous. "Why didn't you just draw a gate?”
― Richelle Mead, quote from Succubus Shadows

“We passed Clarabelle," Skulduggery said. "She drank from one of the test tubes she was holding."
Kenspeckle's head dropped. "That girl," he said. "One of these days she'll learn. I don't know what she'll learn, but she'll learn and it will be a good day."
"Is she in any danger?"
He started searching drawers. "Not really. Both tubes contain mineral water. You'd be astonished how many I've given her water and told her it was something else and not to drink it. She always drinks it though. Always. It's a compulsion.”
― Derek Landy, quote from Dark Days

About BookQuoters

BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.

We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.

Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
