“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. —Marianne Williamson”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“I’ve recently discovered what I suspected all along – cynicism is overrated and overvalued. It’s the shield people hide behind in the mistake belief that it makes them appear cool, strong and impenetrable. But true bravery isn’t about following the crowd or pretending not to care – it’s about daring to trust in yourself and staying true to your heart in the face of dissent. True courage is going out on a limb for the people you love because it’s the right thing to do.”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“The boy I fell madly in love with – the boy made entirely of goodness and light – has been snuffed out by the bloodthirsty creature that glowers before me.”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“The darkness inside you allows for a more human experience. Giving you the very thing you lacked before: an insider’s knowledge of the two faces of man—the constant struggle between darkness and light.”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“Don’t we deserve a little peace?” I pull her back to me, deluding myself into thinking that if I can just hug her enough, love her enough, I can vanquish her fears.”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“Love is stronger than evil. Love is the answer. Love is all there is. Love conquers. Love heals. Love unites. All you need is love. Love makes the world go round…”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“It’s never enough to just accumulate knowledge and skills. It’s what a person does with what he knows that defines who he is.” “Every man must decide the kind of path he’ll walk.”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“That's the thing about the horizon. Every step leads you toward it, but you can never quite reach it. But maybe that's a good thing? Maybe it's nature's way of reminding us to never give up--to always keep striving.”
― Alyson Noel, quote from Horizon
“I'd forgotten the depth of my own weakness, and it's never safe to think that you're stronger than you are.”
― J. Kenner, quote from Release Me
“What we mean when we say "terrible conditions" is conditions which we are aware of as being terrible.”
― Kōbō Abe, quote from The Face of Another
“I like Katelyn, a lot, but sometimes I feel that I can’t be enough for her.”
“Why? I think you’re a great dad.”
“Quinn, you make being a dad the easiest thing I’ve ever done, but that’s not it. I don’t think she likes my tattoos and I’m very different from her husband.”
Quinn rolls his eyes. He’s far too smart for his age. “I think your tattoos tell a story, maybe she should learn to read.”
― Heidi McLaughlin, quote from My Unexpected Forever
“I love you,” he said. He almost yelled it. “And I know that sounds crazy. That’s what you say at the beginning of something, not when it’s almost reached its end. But – I don’t care. I just want to be with you. Maybe it’ll only be for these next few weeks. Maybe it’ll be forever. We can’t know what’ll happen, Anna. All I know is I love you and…we should be together. We just have to be together. We need to be together.”
― quote from Sixteenth Summer
“And trust dies from ifs and buts”
― Aidan Chambers, quote from Dying to Know You
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
