Knitter's Anonimous
May 8, 2006
Rhage (in his bedroom posting in V's room on the board)
Hi, my name is V.
("Hi, V")
I've been knitting for 125 years now.
(*gasping noises*)
It's begun to impact my personal relationships: my brothers think I'm a nancy. It's begun to affect my health: I'm getting a callus on my forefinger and I find bits of yarn in all my pockets and I'm starting to smell like wool. I can't concentrate at work: I keep picturing all these lessers in Irish sweaters and thick socks.
(*sounds of sympathy*)
I've come seeking a community of people who, like me, are trying not to knit.
Can you help me?
(*We're with you*)
Thank you (*takes out hand-knitted hankie in pink*)
(*sniffles*)
("We embrace you, V")

Vishous (in the pit): Oh hell no...you did not just put that up. And nice spelling in the title. Man...you just have to roll up on me, don't you. I got four words for you, my brother.

Rhage: Four words? Okay...lemme see... Rhage, you're so sexy.
hmmm....
Rhage, you're SO smart. No wait! Rhage, you're SO right! That's it, isn't it...g'head. You can tell me.

Vishous: First one starts with a "P"
Use your head for the other three.
Bastard.

Rhage: P? Hmm... Please pass the yarn

Vishous: Payback is a bitch!

Rhage: Ohhhhhhhhhhhh
I'm so scuuuuuurred.
Can you whip me up a blanket to hide under?”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Okay. Right. Horror meets romance meets erotica meets fantasy meets hip hop. Throw in some leather and some Miami Ink shit, stir with a baseball bat and a tire iron, sprinkle on some baby powder, and serve over a hot bed of Holy-Mary-mother-of-God-this-has-to-work-or-I'm-going-to-be-a-lawyer-for-the-rest-of-my-natural-life.
No problem."
(J.R. Ward on the elements of writing the Black Dagger Brotherhood)”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Wrath: What the hell are you supposed to ask?

Rhage: I know! Who do you like the most? It's me right?Come on, you know it is. Come oooooonnnnn-

Butch: If its you,, I'll kill myself.

V: No, that just means she's blind.

Rhage: It has to be me.

V: She said she didn't like you at first.

Rhage: Ah, but I won her over, which is more than anyone else can say about you, hot stuff.

J.R.: I don't like anyone the best

Wrath: Right answer.

Rhage: She's just sparing all of you feelings. (grins, becoming impossibly handsome) She's so polite.

J.R.: Next question?

Rhage: Why do you like me the best?”

VAMPIRES WITH ONE EYEBROW ARE SEXY
May 8, 2006
Vishous (Back in the Pit, posting in Rhage's room on the board)
Hi! My name is Rhage.....:)
I'm starting a new trend in facial hair.
Having one eyebrow is COOL.
Having one eyebrow is SEXY.
Having one eyebrow is very INTELLECTUAL.
Come. Join me.

Rhage: (In his bedroom) 1. He immobilized me, the motherfucker. Or I woud have gone to work on the goatee. AND IF HE WERE SO TOUGH HE WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO PUT A WHAMMY ON MY ASS TO GET AT ME.
2. My hair grows back VERY fast. I should be BACK TO NORMAL in a couple of days.
3. Even if it takes me the rest of this month...he has SO got it coming for him.

Vishous: Rhage! What happened to your eyebrow?
Why...it's gone.
Did you slip while you were shaving?
Hey....lemme ask you something...Does your head feel off-kilter? You know, heavier on one side?”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“When her blue-black eyes lifted to his, everything disappeared. Their bodies dematerialized. The room they were in ceased to exist. Time became nothing. And in the void, in the wormhold, Wrath's chest opened up sure as if he'd been shot, a piercing pain licking over his nerve endings.
He knew then that there are many ways for a heart to break. Sometimes it's from the crowding of life, the compression of responsibility and birthright and burden that just squeezed you until you couldn't breathe anymore. Even though your lungs were working just fine. And sometimes it's from the casual cruelty of a fate that took you far from where you had thought you would end up.
And sometimes it's age in the face of youth. Or sickness in the face of health. But sometimes it's just because you're looking into the eyes of your lover, and your gratitude for having them in your life overflows...because you showed them what was on the inside and they didn't run scared or turn away: they accepted you and loved you and held you in the midst of your passion or your fear...or your combination of both.
Wrath closed his eyes and focused on the soft pulls at his wrist. God, they were just like the beat of his heart. Which made sense.
Because she was the center of his chest. And the center of his world.”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Butch : Two words for you. CYNDI.LAUPER
Vishous : Clearly, the paste you ate has gone to your head. Did Marissa like all that lace you glued on ? Oh... and I'm talking to your body, not that ridiculous card you made her.
Butch : How does that song go ?
*sings song about true colors*
Vishous : I have no idea what you are talking about.
Butch : Oh.Really. So you deny that shit was playing in the weight room yesterday ?
Vishous : Please. Like I listen to crap like that ?
Butch : So you deny that song was also playing in the Escalade last night ?
Vishous : Don't act the fool.
Butch : So you deny that song was ALSO coming out of your shower early this morning.”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Personally, I think so-called "common language" is more interesting and apropos than "proper English"; it's passionate and powerful in ways that "wherefore art thou ass and thy elbow" just isn't.”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Rule number four for me as a writer? Plotlines are like sharks: They either keep moving or they die. ~J.R. Ward”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Bad deeds like beauty, are in the eye of the beholder.”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“Conflict is the microscope of a book. When it's trained on a character, you see what's underneath the narratives of physical description. You see whether someone is strong or weak, principled or apathetic, heroic or villainous."
(J.R. on writing the BDB series)”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

“They say that every author in the course of a career has a couple of books that are just grueling, and Vishous’s was definitely that way for me.”
― J.R. Ward, quote from The Black Dagger Brotherhood: An Insider's Guide

Popular quotes

“Peter Blood judged her- as we are all prone to do- upon insufficient knowledge.”
― Rafael Sabatini, quote from Captain Blood

“Defeat is most devastating at the moment of victory" Saint Dane”
― D.J. MacHale, quote from The Never War

“If we played three CDs of praise at the same time, we’d have a cacophony of noise that would drive us crazy. This was totally different. Every sound blended, and each voice or instrument enhanced the others. As strange as it may seem, I could clearly distinguish each song. It sounded as if each hymn of praise was meant for me to hear as I moved inside the gates.”
― Don Piper, quote from 90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death and Life

“Loyalty is proved by what we do, not where we come from!”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset

“Fine. I understand,” she said with a little shrug, turning her head slightly so he couldn’t see her eyes. “If it’s really that important to you, I’ll go have sex with a human male first. Then I’ll know what I’m talking about before I broach the matter with you again.”
Jacob felt the statement the same way he had felt the blast of Elijah’s intervention the first night he had touched her. It slammed into him with breathtaking brutality, destroying his sense of direction and balance. Rage surged through him, turning his eyes into glistening black voids. The idea of another man touching that precious skin, kissing her sweet, delicious mouth, was more than he could stand. What she was suggesting this time was too much. Beyond too much.
“Over my dead body . . . over my obliterated soul will I ever allow such a thing.” The declaration was a cross between a growl and a soft roar. Bella could see him shaking from head to toe, could feel it vibrating through the door behind her. In all of an instant, the cool, sophisticated Jacob disappeared and a possessive beast reared its head in his place.
Now that’s more like it, Isabella mused, with a mental smile.
“But”—she blinked her wide eyes up at him in all innocence—“you just said—“
“I said forget it, Isabella!” the Enforcer exploded, the pressure of his hands on the door at her back making the wood pop and creak ominously. “No one is going to touch you, do you understand?”
― Jacquelyn Frank, quote from Jacob

About BookQuoters

BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.

We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.

Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
