“Insomnia
I wonder
If those talks matter
Few done in the clarity of day
Or the many
Done at 3 a.m. in the morning”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“Lately
I’ve been dreaming about you
About us
Sharing our secrets
Talking, even if we argued
Kept talking, till we slept
Maybe I woke up
On the wrong side of bed
Maybe I thought about you
Just a little too much”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“I grow weary of the love
That lasts for a night
When it should be there
The next sunrise”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“You see the world in colors,
I see in Black and Red.”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“When my words are concealed
With lies and disguises, truth and beyond
Insecurities in the veil of trust
Betrayal in bounds of lies
It’s just the charm of words darling
Giving the illusion of happiness inside misery”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“I know the feeling When you cry alone Your ego keeps you alive But your heart wants to die Every second you wish For the world to stop”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“Clouded thoughts Scattered around My soul is restless I have nowhere to go No safe haven Nothing makes sense Not anymore I think I lost myself Somewhere on the road And I don’t even want to go back.”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“Don’t let anyone define your rights and wrongs for you. You need to experience wrong to see for yourself if it is wrong. Everyone has a different way of doing things and they are responsible for outlining their actions. If you let others decide what is right and wrong, you won’t be left with any creativity. Don’t be a duplicate. Be original. Be yourself. It doesn’t matter if it’s wrong or right. They are both part of your life. Live both sides. Live your life.”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“Sleep and cry and rest no more For you have lived many storms before Run or crawl and find the sea Dive in the pleasure Let it set you free.”
― Irum Zahra, quote from Psychaotic: See The World In Red And Black
“There is no timetable for grief,” said Bronwen Morgan. “Grief isn’t a train which you catch at the station. Grief has its own time, and grief’s time is beyond time, and time itself … isn’t very important.”
― Susan Howatch, quote from The Wheel of Fortune
“Buffalo Hump knew his son was brave, but that was not enough. If a warrior lacked wisdom, courage alone would not keep him alive for long.”
― Larry McMurtry, quote from Comanche Moon
“This morning, thanks to a controlled near-death experience, I was lucky enough to meet, at the far end of the blue tunnel, a man named Salvatore Biagini. Last July 8th, Mr. Biagini, a retired construction worker, age seventy, suffered a fatal heart attack while rescuing his beloved schnauzer, Teddy, from an assault by an unrestrained pit bull named Chele, in Queens.
The pit bull, with no previous record of violence against man or beast, jumped a four-foot fence in order to have at Teddy. Mr. Biagini, an unarmed man with a history of heart trouble, grabbed him, allowing the schnauzer to run away. So the pit bull bit Mr. Biagini in several places and then Mr. Biagini's heart quit beating, never to beat again. I asked this heroic pet lover how it felt to have died for a schnauzer named Teddy. Salvador Biagini was philosophical. He said it sure as heck beat dying for absolutely nothing in the Viet Nam War.”
― Kurt Vonnegut, quote from God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian
“The fact is I am a compulsive reader. Thirty-five cents’ worth of Gold Medal Original will put me right to sleep. Or Perry Mason. But I’ll read the ads in an old Paris-Match that has been used to wrap herring before I’ll do without.”
― Robert A. Heinlein, quote from Glory Road
“Keep telling yourself that, m'lady. Maybe you'll come to believe it.”
― Jade Parker, quote from To Catch a Pirate
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
