I Can Only Imagine: A Memoir

God will give us the grace to allow His redemption to come into any relationship whenever we are ready to receive His gift of forgiveness and reconciliation.

The storms of life make you either better or bitter.

Isn't it interesting how some life-changing devastations are actually like the crossover switches on train tracks that take you in a totally new direction, often forcing you onto the path you were supposed to be on all along?

For me, music has always been a pleasure, a protector, and my passion. The words my favorite artists sang gave me strength and courage and inspiration and motivation to keep going, to keep living, and to believe something better was around the corner. Music gave me hope when I felt hopeless. Love when I felt unloved. A reason to embrace life when I was dying inside. If a song moved me, then I felt I was alive for a reason. Later I came to the truth of knowing these blessings were all gifts from the Lord. Music was simply the conduit for them to reach my heart.

While I am here on earth, I am both a work in progress and already made whole because of the cross. I am a child of the risen King who will wrestle with the flesh. I’ll win some and lose some, but it can never change how Christ sees me because the cross was enough!

The moment I realized all of my creativity and talent was simply an overflow of a healthy relationship with Christ, everything changed.

Thank the Lord for the prayers and provision of grandmas! I’m not sure what would have happened to Stephen and me without those two sweet saints being the constants in our lives.

God is able to do ‘immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,

Everyone has their breaking point. Some are just quieter than others until they reach it.

Time is everything, as they say. But God's purposes will always prevail.

It's one thing to believe in yourself, but when others around you start to join in and encourage you, it's a totally different dynamic.

To this day, when I put on music, I have to listen and not just heart it. If I want to play you a song and you start talking, I'm the guy who will stop and start it over because I want your full attention on what is coming out of the speakers-not your mouth, mine, or anyone else's.

My catalog of cassettes was literally the soundtrack of my life.
