Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View
Quotes from the Book
This was Skywalker and Kenobi as they should be: a team built on emotion and intellect, bravado and control, fire and ice. And despite no longer having the formal bond of Master and apprentice, they would always be connected. In fact, they were better this way.
Neutrality in the face of extremism only gives the extremists more space to breathe.
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, brothers-in-arms of the Jedi Order. Together, they were unstoppable.
The sun-dragon lives inside a star, guarding everything it loves and treasures. It guarded them through the fire and flame, always keeping them safe. It could persevere through anything, even life within a star itself. Because the sun-dragon has the biggest heart in the galaxy, a furnace of flames powerful enough to protect everything and everyone it loves. The strongest heart—stronger than the heart of a star.
Through the mist, two silhouettes emerged, the glow of their blades giving off enough light to eliminate any doubt of who approached, of who could pull off something as impossible as this rescue. There stood Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, brothers-in-arms of the Jedi Order. And together, they were unstoppable.
Passion and purpose, locked together forever in a delicate balance.
That was the difference between someone like her and someone like him: Obi-Wan Kenobi was too good for a galaxy at war.
Anakin knelt down in front of R2-D2, quickly reciting memorized details about connecting to secure comm channels, something that he held on to as tightly as the hand of his wife. Because in some ways, those letters and numbers held their marriage up across the stars.
For every gain, someone else has a loss. Justice doesn't really exist. Not for everyone. (Ruug Quarnom)
Without trust, we have nothing. Without truth, we have nothing. We MUST have faith in it. (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
Without trust, we have nothing. Without truth, we have nothing. We must have faith in it. And that was as much of a part of him (Obi-Wan) as his connection to the Force.
Because in some ways, those letters and numbers held their marriage up across the stars.
Padmé noticed, of course, but because she always strove to understand others, she’d offered something that encapsulated everything about her: “After a few days on Tatooine, I get why you hate sand so much,” she’d said with a laugh before turning more thoughtful. “We come from different places, Ani. It informs so much of how we see the galaxy.” That moment was the only good thing to ever happen regarding sand.
It’s about a Tatooine myth: the sun-dragon. The sun-dragon is a beast that lives inside a star, guarding everything it treasures. Nothing could hurt it. Not fire, not flame. It survived through the most impossible circumstances, even life in the core of a star. Because the sun-dragon had the biggest heart in the galaxy, a burning furnace powerful enough to protect everything and everyone it loved. “My mother used to tell me the story in different ways. A celebration for good days. A lesson for bad days. But it always returned to one thing, the most important thing: Your heart can take you where you want to go. Where you need to go. Because it is strong enough.
You,' she said, tucking a matching flower into the breast pocket of his coat, 'are not a Jedi Knight. And I am not a senator. We're just a married couple having dinner.' She gestured around, and he noticed that several other couples had donned matching flowers as well. Of course she would scout this out first. 'Yeah', he said, locking elbows with her. 'Just like any other married couple.' She rested her head on his shoulder, the glow of her flower tinting her face. Passion and purpose indeed.
He would do anything to protect her, even if that meant shifting the entire axis of the galaxy.
What would life be without constantly fighting with Anakin? Obi-Wan smiled to himself. It would certainly have fewer headaches.
It will be a hard life. But, in the end, you will find out who you are.
Of course. For that brief instant, Anakin didn’t care who bombed Cato Neimoidia or why; he just wished it would all disappear, that the sunless realm of Coruscant’s underworld really was a portal to another dimension, one without the Galactic Senate or the Jedi Order. But then guilt quickly draped over that, an understanding of the civilian suffering on the planet, where right now emergency medical crews attempted to rescue Neimoidians from the debris.
Come in, Obi-Wan. This is your really annoyed former Padawan.
She leaned forward, pressing her lips against his, sensations he burned for during all those hours on cruisers and shuttles, when the hum of a lightsaber and the chatter of clone commanders stole his attention. He leaned in to her, their hands releasing to roam elsewhere, leaving them in a timeless space where only they existed.
But I believe justice finds a way. It has to. Otherwise, why are we even here? We choose to do right, even in the face of so much wrong. Because there is no other way.
The way you care about others will power you through adversity.
Not the dreams of sleep, where nightmares and visions often collided, but a waking moment when possibility seemed endless.
He could choose differently. If someone just gave him permission. 'You don't always have to be the sun-dragon.
And now she saw into his very essence--a smoldering furnace of a heart, a passion so furious that the intensity of his feelings might be the very thing to incinerate himself into his worst nightmare.
You don't always have to be the sun-dragon.
Goodbye, my young friend. May the Force be with you.
