“Sometimes beautiful things come into our lives out of nowhere. We can't always understand them, but we have to trust in them. I know you want to question everything, but sometimes it pays to just have a little faith.”
“Would he find her?
Without question.
Would he save her?
Always.”
“Are you okay?" Daniel whispered, his voice soft, his lips so close to hers.
"Yes." She could feel the beating of his wings. "You caught me."
"I will always catch you when you fall.”
“If you two were going to be that obvious about it, why didn't you guys come down in your Team Daniel and Team Miles T-shirts?"
"We should order those," Shelby said.
"Mine's in the laundry," Arriane said.”
“I have to go," he said at last, getting to his feet. "I shouldn't even be here, but I cannot keep my self away from you. I worry about you in every waking moment. I love you, Luce. So much it hurts.”
“Loneliness in a crowd of people was the worst kind of loneliness, but she couldn't help it.”
“Yeah, there was a whole chapter on you in my eight grade History of Angels textbook," Miles said.
Arriane clapped. "And they told me that book was banned!”
“I will always catch you when you fall”
“I know he would die if you died, Luce”
“Well, as much as I love kicking asses and taking names, it's way past curfew for you three"- Arriane”
“Cam's wings were so bright they were almost blinding as they pulsed.
"Holy Hell," Callie whispered, blinking.
"More or less," Arriane said”
“Jealous?' Luce asked. They were alone now. She threw her arms around his broad shoulders and looked deep into his violet eyes. 'Why would you be jealous?'
'Because,' he said, rubbing his hands across her back. 'Your dance card is full. For all eternity.”
“Do I love him? Yes. But when the final battle comes, I'll have to kill him. That's just our reality. We both know exactly where we stand."- Francesca”
“They could steam up windows with their kisses, but as soon as they started using
their mouths for other things—like talking—everything got so complicated.”
“Don't go," she whispered, her eyes closed. It was all happening too fast. She couldn't give Daniel up. Not yet. She didn't think she ever could.”
“When he turned to face her, the drawn look on his face was one of absolute agony as if Luce had just ripped his heart out”
“Because love and hate were supposed to stand cleanly on opposite sides of the spectrum. The division seemed as clear as...well, angels and demons would once have seemed to her. Not anymore.”
“No” Daniel cried “ No, no, no”
Luce’s heart ached as he tore at his hair, spun in circle and let his wings bloom out to their full size.”
“Daniel took Luce’s hands in his. He closed his eyes, inhaled, and let his massive white wings unfurl. Fully extended , they would have filled the entire kitchen , but Daniel reined them in, close to his body. They shimmered and glowed and looked altogether too beautiful. Luce reached out and touched them with both hands. Warm and satin smooth on the outside, but inside, full of power. She could feel it coursing through Daniel, into her. She felt so close to him, understood him completely—As If they had become one.”
“Oh that moment when Daniel thought he’d lost her to Cam’s starshot! His wings hat felt too heavy to lift. Colder than death. In that instant , he’d given up all hope.”
“Daniel didn't have to shoulder his punishment alone anymore. It was something they could do together.”
“His eyes burned violet - not with anger but with intense desire. The kind of look that made you love a person so much, you missed him even when he was standing right in front of you.”
“End times aren't supposed to be very pretty.”
“This estrogen force field needs to dissipate... Move along. All of you. Now!”
“She just wished loving him didn’t always have to be so hard.”
“He had the innate sense that something bad was just around the bend, but a hope that something incredible was waiting in the distance.
It had to be.
His burning love for her cursed through him until he felt so full he didn’t know whether he would fit through the portal.”
“Daniel had ruined that couple’s life. Killed their daughter.
All because he’d been some hotshot angel who saw something he wanted and went after it.”
“you caught me" Luce said.
"I'll always catch you when you fall" said Daniel”
“Given the manifest frailty of men, given the long succession of delusions that was their history, what could be more preposterous than claiming oneself the least deluded, let alone privy to the absolute?”
“That wasn't so bad. She said, dabbing at her mouth with a napkin. What was it?
That was a Rocky Mountain oyster, also know as a Montana tendergroin.
No. I just ate bull's balls?
Only one, but yes, you just tore up a tasty testicle. Congratulations!”
“Baby, I’m all yours if you want me to be.”
“I wasn’t sure anymore what made a good marriage. There had to be love, of course, but there were so many different kinds of love. And clearly, some love was more enduring than others.”
“I said, “I need to hear something that’s going to save my life.”

BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
