“Before there is peace, blood will spill blood, and the lake will run red.”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“He was desperate to tell his news to some other cat; he almost felt that if a mouse crossed his path he would stop to inform it that it was about to be eaten by a ThunderClan deputy.”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“You're a medicine cat. I understand what that means now. StarClan go with you, Leafpool. I'll never forget you.”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“Fox dung! I'm a loyal ShadowClan cat. If I'm ever made deputy or leader it will be because I have earned it myself - and my Clanmates and StarClan wish it. You're twisting the warrior code to get what you want, just like you did when you were alive.”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“Loyalty is proved by what we do, not where we come from!”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“Loyalty is what matters, and that exists now, not in the past. Loyalty must be prove every day, in each piece of fresh-kill brought back to the Clan, every claw mark on our enemies, every patrol, every training session.”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“Leafpool mewed. “Do you think I should?” Spottedleaf gave her ear a warm, affectionate lick. “Not unless you want to—or unless Mothwing speaks of it herself. Just reassure her that she can be a great medicine cat and that she deserves to keep her place among her Clanmates.” “That’s not hard,” Leafpool meowed. “Mothwing is a great medicine cat. No cat could care more for her Clan than she does. She hates what Hawkfrost is trying to make her do.” Spottedleaf nodded and”
― Erin Hunter, quote from Sunset
“Following the stream down into ThunderClan territory, she refused to even look sideways at WindClan’s moorland. That part of her life was over, never to be revisited. She was a medicine cat, with the power to walk among StarClan. There was a good reason why she could never be close to any other cat—she walked a different path and always would. If she could just concentrate hard enough on her duties, her feelings would die away, and Crowfeather would mean nothing more to her than any other warrior.”

BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
