“I knew my transformation was complete when Dr.Keyes asked, "How are you feeling today, Tandy?" and I responded "I'm not”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“Anne Frank wrote, ‘How true Daddy’s words were when he said: all children must look after their own upbringing. Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“What I remember most is that the laws of physics no longer seemed to apply. Gravity was backwards and the world was, I'm quite certain, moving in slow motion. His pull wasn't a pull; I was just falling upward, and he caught me. There really was no beginning or end to the kiss; it wasn't even really there- and because of that, it was tremendous. Our lips were just four sweet, shy people meeting, saying, "Hello, it's nice to meet you." But what passed between them was massive. Nuclear. And in an instant, every cobweb inside me was obliterated. My inner struggles, my uncertainty, my fear of tiger attack... gone. Just the feeling of being a newborn, a pure soul just waiting to be imprinted upon.”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“I'm glad I'm feeling this way. I'm really glad."

Dr. Keyes looked rather dismayed. "Really, sweetheart?"

"Yes. And I don't want to let it go. Not yet. I'm just starting to feel it. And it feels...I don't know. Right, I guess. Maybe even...good.”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“My parents were just carried out of the building in the service elevator," he shouted at the cops. "They were vile, but they didn't deserve to be taken out with the trash!”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“Our Parents were gods and monsters at the same time. Maybe we're all like that- gods and monsters”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“Remembering pain is how you learn never to let the cause of it happen again”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“one father is better than 100 head masters”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

“He was already a sociopath, and he was just out of kinder-garten. I didn't think much of it at the time. It was the family way.”
― James Patterson, quote from Confessions of a Murder Suspect

Popular quotes

“I looked up at the mass of signs and stars in the night sky and laid myself open for the first time to the benign indifference of the world.”
― Albert Camus, quote from The Outsider

“Five thousand dollars? For a kiss?”

“That’s what I said.”

“With tongue?”

“It’s not really a kiss without it.
Just say yes, pet. You obviously need the money.”

I gasp before I can stop myself. I didn’t think five words from a stranger could hurt so much. What a dick.

“For fuck’s sake, Nicholas,” Simon says.

But he just looks at me, waiting, those arrogant green eyes alight with anticipation. So I give him what he’s waiting for.

“Hands under the table,” I order.

He smiles wider, puts his flask in his pocket, and does what he’s told.

“Close your eyes.”

“I like a woman who’s not afraid to take charge.”

“No more talking.” He’s said more than enough.

I lean in, keeping my eyes open the whole time, memorizing every angle of that face, feeling his warm breath against my cheek. This close, I can see the shadow of stubble on his chin and for just a second, I let myself wonder what it would feel like scratching against my stomach, my thighs—everywhere.

Then in one move, I pick up his plate—and smash the apple pie in his stupid, handsome face.

“Kiss this, asshole.”
― Emma Chase, quote from Royally Screwed

“They both looked down at Alex who, unsuccessful in her butterfly-catching attempt and bored of their conversation, was wiggling her eyebrows up and down over and over again, trying to raise one without the other. Why was it so difficult?”
― Lynette Noni, quote from Akarnae

“...disfrutaría de la venganza más verdadera de todas: haría que mi vida tuviera un sentido.”
― S.J. Kincaid, quote from The Diabolic

“Oh literature is a wonderful thing, Varenka, a very wonderful thing: I discovered that from being with those people the day before yesterday. It is a profound thing. It strengthens people’s hearts and instructs them,… Literature is a picture, or rather in a certain sense both a picture and a mirror; it is an expression of emotion, a subtle form of criticism, a didactic lesson and a document…”
― Fyodor Dostoyevsky, quote from Poor Folk

About BookQuoters

BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.

We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.

Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
