“Then set the hounds loose, boy - it's time to kick demonic ass!”
― Darren Shan, quote from Demon Thief
“No.
You know this is wrong and you want to feel better about it.
You don't want to admit your as ruthless and monstrous as the demons you claim to hate.”
― Darren Shan, quote from Demon Thief
“I know who the demon thief is - it's me!”
― Darren Shan, quote from Demon Thief
“One of the things is that in times of severe disorder, you can't worry about the dead, only the living.”
― Darren Shan, quote from Demon Thief
“But I don't think Art's an Einstein - he likes tugging ears, biting people and burping too much to be a genius.”
― Darren Shan, quote from Demon Thief
“I've lived and seen enough to know how difficult it is to settle for a small life when you're destined for greatness.”

“The first rule of fight club is don’t tell anyone about fight club... Brad Pitt.”
― Luke Young, quote from Friends With Partial Benefits
“My purpose in the classroom, and the main reason I’ve written this book, is to translate the truly astounding, groundbreaking, sometimes even revolutionary discoveries of my fellow physicists into concepts and language intelligent, curious laypeople can really get hold of—to make a bridge between the world of professional scientists and your world. Too many of us seem to prefer talking only to our peers and make it awfully difficult for most people—even those who really want to understand science—to enter our world.”
― Walter Lewin, quote from For the Love of Physics: From the End of the Rainbow to the Edge of Time: A Journey Through the Wonders of Physics
“Nope,” I said, closing my eyes. I should probably go back to sleep. That sounded like a good idea. “I’m pretty sure it’s Dean’s rugged sexuality interfering with the machines.”
― Lily Paradis, quote from Ignite
“We feel safe around authentic people, as if we could reveal to them our deepest, darkest secrets, as if we could trust them with anything. And when we get to know these people on a deeper level—when we establish a connection with them—it’s refreshing to discover they are who we thought they were, that beneath the surface they are authentically themselves.”
― Joshua Fields Millburn, quote from Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life
“i shall imagine life
is not worth dying,if
(and when)roses complain
their beauties are in vain
but though mankind persuades
itself that every weed's
a rose,roses(you feel
certain)will only smile”
― E.E. Cummings, quote from Complete Poems, 1904-1962
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
