“A crossbow?” Pigeon asked.
I left my battle-ax in my other jeans,” the man said.”
“Could you just call me Pigeon?” he asked the teacher when she read his name.
“Does your mother call you Pigeon?”
“No.”
“Then to me you are Paul.”
...
“Nathan Sutter,” the teacher read.
“My mother never calls me Nathan.”
“Is it Nate?”
“She calls me Honeylips.”
“Are you her boyfriend?”
...
No, I’m her fiancé.” Nate said.
We’ve been promised to each other since birth,” Summer added.
Our wedding isn’t until March.”
“My dad says people who insist that youtrust them usually don't deserve it.”
“There are no insect eggs in my food.” Mrs. White reiterated.
You should use that in your advertising,” Nate suggested.”
“Hard to call it a party without sardines.”
“ROBBING GRAVES! SHES ASKING US TO ROB GRAVES!”
“Can't you home school me?" Nate pleaded.
"You would never do any work." (Nate's mom)
"Sounds perfect!”
“The girl with the long brown hair turned around. "Are you her boy friend?" she asked.
Summer glanced from Crystal to Nate and back. Then question made her feel a little awkward. After all, she had saved him a seat.
No, I'm her fiance," Nate said.
We've been promised to each other since birth." Summer added.
Our wedding isn't until March.”
“Nathan Sutter," the teacher read.
Here. My mother never calls me Nathan."
Is it Nate?"
She calls me Honeylips.”
“Not kill us," Pigeon corrected. "She was mainly just trying to turn us into mindless slaves.”
“What has three heads, six arms, and half a brain?" Three asked. One and Two answered in unison. "Nate Sutter.”
“And you came back to Lyrian?" Galloran said in disbelief.
"Believe it or not, I came through the same hippopotamus that brought me here the first time. Jumped into the tank on purpose. I wanted to keep others from wasting their time pursuing the Word. And I couldn't ditch Rachel."
Galloran smiled. "Truly, you are possessed by that species of madness that begets heroism.”
“We’ve got the house all to ourselves. Maybe after I run that hot bubble bath for you, I’ll help you wash your back.”
“As filthy as I am, I’m going to have to make do with the shower or I’ll leave two inches of mud in the bottom of the tub.”
“We should conserve water and shower together,” he said as he followed her into the house.
“Gee, I couldn’t do that. I’m a nice girl, remember?”
He groaned and bent forward to untie his filthy boots. “There was nothing in your owner’s manual warning about your unnaturally good lip-reading ability.”
“But then I wouldn’t know you think I’m a nice girl, but…”
He wasn’t even sure what he was in trouble for. “I was trying to make him see the difference between him and his wife, and you and me. I didn’t mean anything by it.”
“Relax,” she said with an impish gleam in her eyes. “I swear, it’s so easy to push your buttons.”
“You have a really twisted sense of humor.”
But he forgave her when she unzipped her jeans and wriggled out of them right there in the hall. She probably didn’t want to track trail dust all through the house, so he’d do the same. But he’d watch her first, since he wasn’t one to pass up a striptease by a beautiful woman.”
“Bir şeyleri sürekli asaletle halleden insanlar var. O şeylerin ne olduğunun önemi zaten yok.”
“My children ain’t the only thing I love. If I was allowed, I reckon I’d love myself, too.”
“Damn every single matchmaker in this world.”
“If one has a good reputation and trusted, the rules can be bent to accommodate.”
BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.
We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.
Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
