It sets something off in Maven. He jumps out of reach, keeping his distance from all of us. The twitching returns in force, but his eyes blaze, all fire. No fear. About the book

War Storm is the fourth and final novel in Victoria Aveyard's young adult fantasy series Red Queen, published by HarperTeen in 2018. Set in a world divided between the powerless Reds and the superhuman, silver-blooded Silvers, it follows Mare Barrow, a Red girl with the lightning-wielding abilities normally reserved for Silvers, as she joins forces with the exiled prince Cal against Maven, the king who once betrayed her. The book brings the conflict between rebels, kingdoms, and rival crowns to its conclusion.

Like the rest of the series, War Storm explores themes of class oppression, revolution, power and its corrupting pull, divided loyalty, and the personal cost of war. The romance and rivalry between Mare, Cal, and Maven runs alongside larger questions about whether toppling one tyrant can truly free a society built on inequality.

The Red Queen series was a major commercial success and a #1 New York Times bestseller, and War Storm served as its capstone after Red Queen, Glass Sword, and King's Cage. War Storm was a Goodreads Choice Award nominee for Young Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction in 2018. Critical reception of the series was mixed, with reviewers praising its fast pace and worldbuilding while some noted its length and familiar dystopian tropes.
