“Unconditional love is hard to compete with.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“Things happen in life and you can’t control them. It sucks and you have to move on.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“I love you.” My heart almost stopped beating in my chest.
She hadn’t spoken those words since the last time I held her in my arms.
“And you did leave me. But... but you came back. No one’s ever come back. They leave me and that’s it. They want to leave me. You didn’t. And you came back.” I wanted to stand up and reach across the table and jerk her into my arms but I wasn’t sure I could stand up just yet. I needed to hear everything she had to say.
“Yes, I came back. My heart never left you.”
“I miss you.”
This time I stood up and walked around the table.
“I miss you. Every second of every day,” I whispered. Her eyes followed me until I was inches from her.
“I trust you.”
I needed more than that.
“You trust me,” I repeated.
She nodded and her hand came up and caressed the side of my arm.
“I want to try again.”
Those were the words I needed to hear.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“Did you just call me a hottie? And Jax isn’t better looking than me. He’s just famous.”
Amanda let out a loud cackle of laughter.
“No brother dear, Jax Stone is hotness incarnate with or without the guitar and sexy as hell singing voice. You never stood a chance. He was what you call playing with the big dogs. This time you’re definitely playing within your league.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“I don’t think I’m making myself very clear Low,” he’d lowered his voice and the effect made goose bumps break out over my body. “I was only interested in one person at that bar last night. I only came to see one person,” he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and softly caressed my earlobe before tracing the line of my jaw. “I was there for you.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“I've been loved in life, but all that matters now is that I'm loved by you." -Eva”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“I needed to get out and my roomies had both left me for the night so I followed the pretty one here.” Did Marcus just call me pretty?”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“Okay. If you want to do this thing with Marcus then fine. I’ll take it and deal with it. But when he hurts you. When he lets you down, I’ll be here. My arms are always open for you to run into. I want you happy and if you think this asshole will make you happy then fine. You need to live a little too. I can’t protect you from everything, but I can be here to hold you when he breaks your heart.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“I don’t bite Marcus. You can come sit on the comfy old couch with me. That chair is incredibly uncomfortable.” Just the opening I needed. I jumped up and sat down on the end of the couch and stretched my legs out in front of me.
“You don’t have to tell me twice. I was just being polite.” Will ow chuckled and brought a blanket over to the sofa with her.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“I didn't want to see you, but you invaded my world. Every dark corner you found a way in bringing light to the lifeless and lost." Eva”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“That’s really sweet.”
He grinned and reached for a plate.
“Then I believe my mission is accomplished.” Laughing softly so I didn’t wake up Cage, I walked over and took the plate he was offering to me.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“Damn, I was so far gone at this point I’d do anything she asked of me.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“Those blue eyes that had stopped my heart the first time she looked at me found me in the crowd." -Cage”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“He isn’t like us Low. You know that right.”

I knew what Cage was saying. Marcus was out of my league. He didn’t want me thinking there could ever be anything between me and his roommate. I was low class. Marcus was a rich kid.

“I’m not stupid Cage.”
― Abbi Glines, quote from Because of Low

“All night I’d wondered, if I blew hard enough, would the dress fly up in back?”

“«Voglio una stanza tutta per me.»
«No.»
«No e basta?»
«Esatto: tu resti qui.» Le parole con me non vennero pronunciate, ma erano sottintese. «Non ho vissuto a lungo a Budapest e non ho passato molto tempo in questa camera, ma è mia.» Come lo sei tu. Anche questo era sottinteso.”
― Gena Showalter, quote from The Darkest Whisper

“like swatting flies with a laser cannon. The aim's a bit tricky, but it sure takes care of the flies.”
― Lois McMaster Bujold, quote from Komarr

“There were six hundred thousand Indian troops in Kashmir but the pogrom of the pandits was not prevented, why was that. Three and a half lakhs
of human beings arrived in Jammu as displaced persons and for many months the government did not provide shelters or relief or even register
their names, why was that. When the government finally built camps it only allowed for six thousand families to remain in the state, dispersing the
others around the country where they would be invisible and impotent, why was that. The camps at Purkhoo, Muthi, Mishriwallah, Nagrota were built
on the banks and beds of nullahas, dry seasonal waterways, and when the water came the camps were flooded, why was that. The ministers of the
government made speeches about ethnic cleansing but the civil servants wrote one another memos saying that the pandits were simply internal
migrants whose displacement had been self-imposed, why was that. The tents provided for the refugees to live in were often uninspected and
leaking and the monsoon rains came through, why was that. When the one-room tenements called ORTs were built to replace the tents they too
leaked profusely, why was that. There was one bathroom per three hundred persons in many camps why was that and the medical dispensaries
lacked basic first-aid materials why was that and thousands of the displaced died because of inadequate food and shelter why was that maybe five
thousand deaths because of intense heat and humidity because of snake bites and gastroenteritis and dengue fever and stress diabetes and
kidney ailments and tuberculosis and psychoneurosis and there was not a single health survey conducted by the government why was that and the
pandits of Kashmir were left to rot in their slum camps, to rot while the army and the insurgency fought over the bloodied and broken valley, to
dream of return, to die while dreaming of return, to die after the dream of return died so that they could not even die dreaming of it, why was that why
was that why was that why was that why was that.”
― Salman Rushdie, quote from Shalimar the Clown

“The ironic fact is that humanism which began with man's being central eventually had no real meaning for people. On the other hand, if one begins with the Bible's position that man is created by God and in the image of God, there is a basis for that person's dignity.”
― Francis A. Schaeffer, quote from How Should We Then Live? The Rise and Decline of Western Thought and Culture

“Well…Shit.” They were, as last words go, not terribly inspired. But”
― quote from Thief's Covenant

About BookQuoters

BookQuoters is a community of passionate readers who enjoy sharing the most meaningful, memorable and interesting quotes from great books. As the world communicates more and more via texts, memes and sound bytes, short but profound quotes from books have become more relevant and important. For some of us a quote becomes a mantra, a goal or a philosophy by which we live. For all of us, quotes are a great way to remember a book and to carry with us the author’s best ideas.

We thoughtfully gather quotes from our favorite books, both classic and current, and choose the ones that are most thought-provoking. Each quote represents a book that is interesting, well written and has potential to enhance the reader’s life. We also accept submissions from our visitors and will select the quotes we feel are most appealing to the BookQuoters community.

Founded in 2023, BookQuoters has quickly become a large and vibrant community of people who share an affinity for books. Books are seen by some as a throwback to a previous world; conversely, gleaning the main ideas of a book via a quote or a quick summary is typical of the Information Age but is a habit disdained by some diehard readers. We feel that we have the best of both worlds at BookQuoters; we read books cover-to-cover but offer you some of the highlights. We hope you’ll join us.
